CORE Organic: Coordination of European Transnational Research in Organic Food and Farming

CORE Organic (Co-ordination of European Transnational Research in Organic Food and Farming) is a transnational partnership joining resources within research in organic food and farming. The aim of CORE Organic is to enhance the quality, relevance and utilisation of resources in European research in organic food and farming through coordination and collaboration. The project is initiated as a part of the European Commissions ERA-NET Scheme (, which intends to step up cooperation between national research activities.

The first European ERA-NET project CORE Organic was a three-year co-ordination action in organic food and farming (2004 to 2007). Eleven European countries were represented in the programme, with eight pilot research projects.

CORE Organic II was started in 2010 to coordinate research programmes in organic food and farming between partner countries. Currently there are 21 European countries that participate in this network of funding bodies. The program has issued three calls for proposals and is planned to run through February 2013.
